Hi, I’m Carla Winchester, LCSW.

I have been a psychotherapist for over 20 years. How am I that old? 

My first job out of grad school was at a sex abuse treatment program. After obtaining my license, I supervised in-home therapists for children with behavioral problems and their families. In my private practice, I have been a bit of a generalist working with a variety of populations, including clients who have past trauma, blended family issues, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ, grief, marital issues, and custody issues. I work with clients from 14 years of age to 80 years old and everyone in between. 

In 2019, I participated in and am certified in an immersive, intensive training in Acceptance and Integration Training (AAIT™) led by founder Melanie McGhee, LCSW. AAIT™ is an innovative non-traditional therapy which takes one through processes starting with a charged event, emotion or feeling and integrating it in a meditative way which leads to a nothingness state (non-dual awareness.) The more it’s practiced, the less reactive you become in everyday life. I will teach you home practices as well to help sustain the calmness you experience in session.

In my free time, I enjoy being an empty nester with my two dogs. One is training to be a therapy dog. I also spend time weekly collaborating with other AAIT™ practitioners for my own well being and continuing to practice the skills I have learned. I have two adult-ish children who I cherish and visit with as often as possible. I have a wonderful tribe of friends and love hanging out with good music and good conversation.

I am a warm, friendly outgoing extrovert. Probably a 9 on the enneagram and an ENFJ. I care so very much about each and every one of my clients. I love hearing your story and giving you tools to deepen your therapy experience.
